South Roads

Square

This exhibit features new and vintage photos from my travels beyond Charlottesville. If you have enjoyed my work with C’ville Images you might like the photography I’ll share here. I enjoy traveling by automobile. Mostly these are 1-3 day road trips from my home-base in Charlottesville rambling my way around Virginia and the Carolinas, sometimes farther.  Exploring backroads, small towns, and cities, looking for anything that interests me along the way and makes for a compelling photo subject. Old theaters, Art Deco buildings, bridges, barns, country stores, abandoned places, historic sites, quirky landmarks, murals, signs, or the highway itself. Occasionally I’ll discover vintage photographs of these places, adding a “Then” perspective to what I’m photographing “Now”. This exhibit is more of a photo album- random pics of the places I visit. This is not a history lesson or a travel guide. Not all the photos are even labeled. Sometimes the location is secondary to the visual, other times I’m not exactly sure where I am anyway.

You can also follow my travels on social media: “Virginia Traveler” on Facebook and “South Roads” on Instagram.
