Flash cover Our first book, “FLASH: The Photography of Ed Roseberry”, published in 2016, this book is now out of print and sold out. It is now a collectors item. We are honored to have multiple copies in circulation at all the Jefferson Madison Regional Library branches. Roseberry’s work can also be found in our other books and we look forward to doing another project with Ed Roseberry’s amazing archives in the future.
Our second book, published in the fall of 2017, is “Charlottesville Then & Now”.  This book is the result of several years of researching old photographs and photographing locations around Charlottesville. The book pairs vintage images from Charlottesville, the University of Virginia, and other nearby places with photographs of the same locations today. With black & white and color photos throughout, this stunning book takes you on a tour through time you won’t soon forget. Photographs by Holsinger, Roseberry, and others makes it a great companion to our first book.
Our third book, published in the winter of 2019, is “Vintage Charlottesville”.  This collection of historical photographs of Charlottesville, VA brings together a range of fascinating images from many sources. Many of these photographs have never been seen or published before. Together, the rare and remarkable photos included here will take you on a “tour through time” of  Charlottesville you won’t soon forget.

The Roseberry Archives at Vintage Charlottesville is an extensive collection of the work of legendary Charlottesville-based photographer, Edwin S. Roseberry.  We have scanned thousands of Ed’s photographs for use in publications, web projects, exhibits, and slideshow programs, and Ed’s photographs can be found in all three of our books.

Ed Roseberry moved to Charlottesville as a teenager in 1939. A few years later he was stationed in the Pacific during World War II. He returned to Charlottesville and attended the University of Virginia where he pursued photography which led to a long career in Charlottesville. He photographed sports, celebrities, fraternity parties, portraits, parades, buildings, and aerial views of Charlottesville. He also captured many events in Charlottesville and the surrounding area for various news organizations. His body of work is astounding with thousands of images of Charlottesville over several decades. Throughout his career he has had numerous exhibits, won many photography awards, and has had his work featured in a wide variety of publications.
