Ed Roseberry moved to Charlottesville as a teenager in 1939. A few years later he was stationed in the Pacific during World War II. He returned to Charlottesville and attended the University of Virginia where he pursued photography which led to a long career in Charlottesville. He photographed sports, celebrities, fraternity parties, portraits, parades, buildings, and aerial views of Charlottesville. He also captured many events in Charlottesville and the surrounding area for various news organizations. His body of work is astounding with thousands of images of Charlottesville over several decades. Throughout his career he has had numerous exhibits, won many photography awards, and has had his work featured in a wide variety of publications.
The Roseberry Collection at C’ville Images is a selection of some of the best of Ed’s photographs that are available as prints to purchase. While C’ville Images has scanned thousands of Ed’s photographs for use in publications, web projects, exhibits, and slideshow programs, The Roseberry Collection will be a selection of the most compelling of what we have found in the extensive Roseberry archives. The Roseberry Collection will not be a “photo dump” like you might see on some photo websites.
C’ville Images is painstakingly restoring the photos made from from scans of the original negatives from Roseberry’s extensive photographic archives so that we can create the finest prints of his work available anywhere. We can assure you nobody else is doing this work. From those restored images we are making a thoughtful selection of the photographs that make up The Roseberry Collection at C’ville Images. Over time we will continue to add to the collection so check back often.
