Carrsgrove, located near the University of Virginia, was once home to art historian, professor and collector, Horace Burr. Burr was a descendant of Aaron Burr, Vice President under Thomas Jefferson. The home, in very poor condition, was recently razed, as seen in these photos. Among the many items collected and kept here by Horace Burr was the famed punch bowl of the historic “Punch Bowl Tract”, the land acquired by Peter Jefferson and later named “Shadwell.” Part of the old home may have dated to the 18th Century.
